Registration
1) When can I sign up for TideNUS? Right now! Registration starts on 2nd November 2014. Sign up here! 2) When does registration end? TideNUS will end registrations on 15th December 2014. 3) When will the early bird promotion expire? The early bird promotion will is exclusively for the first 20 NUS participants who have made full payment for TideNUS. Be one of these lucky 20 today! 4) $120 is a bit pricey. What does the price include? Considering the wide exposure of all the popular water sports in Singapore, $120 is a bargain! You get to feel the challenge of trying out new sports for at least two hours at a time, and learn skills to get you into the flow of the sport. Accommodation, food, and an event tee will be provided for during the camp as well. 5) I’m not from NUS. Can I join the camp? Yes, TideNUS is an inter-collegiate camp that is opened to all tertiary students. 6) Is this camp open only for freshmen undergraduates? TideNUS is a camp that is opened to all water sports enthusiasts; hence all tertiary students who are above 18 year old are allowed to take part in the camp. For fresh graduates who really want to join in the fun, email [email protected]. We will attend to you on a case-by-case basis. 7) I have no experience in water sports. Can I join the camp? Yes, no prior experience is required for the camp. However, a one-star kayaking certificate is required for the camp. If you do not have a one-star kayaking certificate and wish to take the kayaking course, kindly email us at [email protected]. 8) Do I need to be a strong swimmer to participate in this camp? You must be able to swim for at least 50m without any floatation device. Do note that all camp activities will be in water, often out at sea, so you would have to at least be confident in doggy-paddling to our safety buoys. Safety is the Organisers’ utmost priority; hence you will need to submit a hardcopy swimming declaration form on a later date. 9) Will there be group discounts for TideNUS? No, all camp fees are charged individually. Joining with a group of friends definitely makes the camp experience much more fun though! 10) How would I know if my registration and payment have been successful? A confirmation email and receipt will be issued to your within 48 hours regarding your successful registration and payment respectively. 11) I cannot come down to make payment at NUS at the stated dates. Is there an online payment portal? Unfortunately we do not have a payment portal set up as of yet. We will open more payment dates for you to visit NUS for payment. Camp
1) Where do I report for the first day of TideNUS camp (2 January 2015)? National University of Singapore, Sports and Recreation Centre! 2) What do I need to bring for the camp? Essential items would be swimwear, goggles, covered shoes/water booties, change of clothes and toiletries. A detailed packing list will be given nearer to the camp. 3) Are there any prohibited items for the camp? Yes, there are. If you are questioning if what you are bringing is a prohibited item, it is most probably best left at home. 4) Where will we be staying? It’s a secret! Don’t worry, the place that we are staying at is well-maintained. 5) Can I request to be in the same group with my friends? Fate will decide if you are in the same group as your friends. The Organisers will group all participants in random order. You can submit your request to [email protected], but no promises. There will be plenty of time for you to mingle between the different groups during the camp. 6) Where will we be dismissed on Day 3 (4 January 2014)? We’d like to keep it a surprise. Nowhere inconvenient or secluded, that’s for sure. 7) What is the daily schedule of the camp? No spoilers. It’s a surprise! 8) What if I cannot make it for the full duration of the camp? Your ticket is non-transferable, ie. a friend cannot be a substitute for you during the time you’re not around. The Organisers will still keep you updated on our movements so that you can join us whenever you’re ready. 9) Is there an emergency contact person that my parents can contact in case of emergencies? Yes, emergency contact for the camp will be given on a later date, together with the packing list. 10) Will there be time set aside for Muslims to perform Salat? Yes, sufficient time will be allocated for Muslims to perform their prayers during the camp. 11) What happens if it rains? Activities will still carry on unless a Category 1 lightning alert is issued. Expect slight delays, or a postponement, but full-out cancellations will only be made in extreme weather conditions eg. Haze. No refunds will be made. 12) What if I get hurt during the camp? We have first-aid trained personnel and a safety evacuation vehicle on stand-by to attend to your wounds and rush you to the nearest hospital if need be. 13) Can I volunteer? Definitely! We need as much manpower as we can get. Volunteer registration will be opened soon! All volunteers will receive accommodation, food and event tee for free! |
